On the peplum and burgundy bandwagon, that is! I'm a little late in the game but don't hate me; I live in South America, where everything moves a little slower, and trends just take longer to trickle down.

If you have a particularly sharp eye you may notice I 'ave something resembling a mild case of chicken pox on me legs - this is because nobody in Brazil has air conditioning or, strangely enough, bug screens on their windows. And, as Boyf says, "those Brazilian skeeters are shifty!" which roughly translates to us both frantically clapping our hands around the room at 4 am and still not managing to diminish the herd of giant mosquitos that occupy our room at night.
But maybe I can work this in my favor because - haven't you heard? - chicken-pox legs are the new burgundy! Or so I like to tell myself. Maybe polka dot stockings will be super in soon, though, and I can proudly brag that I don't need 'em, suckas! And all the pretty girls will be jealous of my fashionable scratching.
In other words, if you haven't already, I'd like you all to meet my new things, including this nifty earring and this purse ($30 SCORE!) and Frankie and Freddy (the Siamese twins) and Carlos and Madeleine, a few of the new friends I'm carrying around on this cool bangle. You only wish you were this popular.

Ahhhh I have the same issue with bugs in Buenos Aires. :*( I hate having to spray myself with bug repellent every day but alas it's a necessity or else I'll come out looking like Miss Polka Dots!

I was pretty late with the whole burgundy trend as well...Haven't even tried the peplum yet! Looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteThe peplum looks great on you! It is not an easy shape to pull off, I've found. I keep trying though, it just looks so cute on everyone else. Also, I absolutely feel you on the mosquito bites. They have been feasting on me. I'd like to send a photo to prove my point, but I'll spare you (and my pride). Thanks for the sweet comment on my blog!

Nice outfit! Love your top! You're so lucky to have that weather, but I am happy not to have those giant mosquitos at my place... even if it's fashionable ;)

Shoes here are so cheap - these were $25! And the bag was $30 (Argentina is definitely the place to get leather)! Make sure you go shopping if you ever come down to Latin America!
ReplyDeleteI don't feel that lucky to have this weather since pretty much nobody in Brazil has air conditioning - it's total hell, especially trying to sleep at night! But we all envy what we don't have, right?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it depends on the peplum top! I think it's hard because a lot of them are fitted - this one's a stretchy material, so it just conforms to my body shape up top and then flares on the bottom.
ReplyDeleteAlthough it also makes my butt look HUGE (relatively speaking - being half-Asian, I also have almost no butt), so I imagine if you've been endowed with a more voluptuous bottom it could maybe be less-than-optimally-flattering.
What a beautiful peplum top! And your purse is so cute too!

You're right! The grass is always greener on the other side... Lucky me, then! :)
