CREATURE FEATURE #6: Mizuho of xoxo HiLAMEE

Hi everyone! So we've been getting good responses to our Creature Feature reach-outs and we missed a couple of weeks during the holidays so here's an extra for this month! Her name is Mizuho, and she writes the blog xoxo HiLAMEE. She commands over a thousand fans on lookbook and her style is very unique and fun but classy (I can't get over it - as you may be able to tell, I couldn't narrow it down to just a few photos!). However, although I find her blog absolutely adorable, I have to admit I have no idea whatsoever what it says (since it's all in Japanese!)! But now you can tap more than just her photos, as she's taken the time to do an interview for us in English even though it's not her native language!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Most of Mizuho's responses have been para- and re-phrased by me with her permission.

1 - The Japanese are known for their exceptional creativity, if not quirkiness, in fashion. How do you think your culture has affected your style?
Wow! What a difficult question!
Japan believes that looking to foreign countries makes for a strong nation. The Japanese find style inspiration from the foreign world, its colors, and its styles, and the Japanese girl fuses it together with her culture of feeling pretty. I think that I have a more foreign-influenced style.

2 - How did you get started blogging?
I used to keep an online diary. Though I occasionally posted pictures, I didn't post nearly as many as now and was hardly really writing about fashion.
One day I found LOOKBOOK, and I saw various peoples' postings on fashion and I decided that I wanted to share my style with the people of the world. I am honored and very glad when I think that I can share it with my blog and LOOKBOOK fans.

3 - What is your favorite place to shop?
Online shops are my favorite one although there is a big mall with an H&M and a ZARA that I also love.
The thing about online stores is that it has goods that are not sold in the shop now, and I can buy it in the store in the world and there is a thing cheaper than a store. Since there is also a reference picture, it becomes study.

4 - How would you define success? Do you consider yourself successful?
There is not one definition of big success. I think that I am pleased when I have succeeded in making any small hope come true. But I think a new hope will always appear immediately thereafter and beg to be made true. So I'm experiencing my success now!

5 - If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
I want to live in a European country because I have heard that in Europe it's so easy to go to neighboring countries and I am interested in their style and customs, and I have a good image of the way things are in Europe.

6 - What is your favorite color of socks to wear?
Black!

7 - Do you believe in an afterlife?
I don't.
Possibly I think that there may be a pleasant world. I want to reach the end thinking that my life was fun!! And... I don't ever want to become a ghost!

8 - Who is your biggest fan?
There is not one single person. I think I have various fans across LOOKBOOK, my magazine, and my blog.

9 - Do you/did you ever have any weird nicknames?
My current boyfriend calls me by a strange nickname. He usually calls me Mii. However, I have been called Michosu, Zushi chan, Nyasu, Hirame, and Namahamu meron(Uncured ham melon)! It doesn't really mean anything specific to me. He's too funny!! Hahah!

10 - Tell us something about yourself we don't know from your blog.
Something you don't know... mmm... sometimes when I watch cartoons I laugh and cry and dance!!:D
You can follow Mizuho on bloglovin, Instagram, and lookbook (where she's got quite the following!). Have a good week, everyone!

  1. Thanks for visiting my blog! The sunglasses you mentioned are from a tiny fancy-dress shop in Wales. You can get similar ones from costume shops, I think. I love your blog, by the way, gorgeous photos xx
